DoC is an important part of the American economic machine with many very different bureaus that appear to be unrelated, but actually help all of us.
Join us as we cover four very important bureaus of Commerce: BEA, BIS, EDA and ITA.
BEA
The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis is your source of accurate and objective data about the nation's economy.
BEA's economists produce some of the world's most closely watched statistics, including U.S. gross domestic product, better known as GDP. They do state and local numbers, too, plus foreign trade and investment stats and industry data.
BIS
The Bureau of Industry and Security advances U.S. national security, foreign policy, and economic objectives by ensuring an effective export control and treaty compliance system and promoting continued U.S. strategic technology leadership.
EDA
The U.S. Economic Development Administration's investment policy is designed to establish a foundation for sustainable job growth and the building of durable regional economies throughout the United States. This foundation builds upon two key economic drivers - innovation and regional collaboration. Innovation is key to global competitiveness, new and better jobs, a resilient economy, and the attainment of national economic goals. Regional collaboration is essential for economic recovery because regions are the centers of competition in the new global economy and those that work together to leverage resources and use their strengths to overcome weaknesses will fare better than those that do not.
ITA
The International Trade Administration's (ITA) mission is to create prosperity by strengthening the international competitiveness of U.S. industry, promoting trade and investment, and ensuring fair trade and compliance with trade laws and agreements. ITA is your U.S. government resource for competing in the global marketplace.
